Tranzit Centre – CONCORDIA Projekte Sociale

A Safe Space for Inclusion, Education, and Empowerment

Tranzit Centre is one of CONCORDIA Kosovo’s flagship community-based initiatives, located in
the heart of the Tranzit neighborhood in Prizren, a diverse area home to Roma, Ashkali,
Egyptian, and Albanian communities. Since its establishment, the center has served as a place

of hope, safety, and opportunity for hundreds of children, youth, and families who face the
daily realities of poverty, exclusion, and systemic discrimination.
The center was founded with a clear mission: to ensure that every child and young person,
regardless of their background, has access to education, protection, and a supportive
environment in which they can thrive. It is a safe and inclusive space where diversity is
celebrated, and where children are empowered to dream, learn, and grow.

Our Approach

At Tranzit Centre, CONCORDIA Kosovo delivers holistic, child-centered services that address the
educational, social, emotional, and developmental needs of children and their families. Our
multidisciplinary team, composed of teachers, social workers, psychologists, and nurse, works
with care and dedication to provide:

  • Learning support and Non-formal education licensed by MASHT
Homework help, literacy and numeracy classes, school reintegration support, and skill-building
activities designed to increase academic performance and school attendance.
  • Early childhood education
  • Social Services, Psychosocial support and child protection licensed by Ministry of Justice
One-on-one counseling, group sessions, and tailored interventions for children and youth
experiencing social exclusion , behavioral difficulties or trauma.
  • Music Classes
Art, music, sports, theater, digital literacy, and intercultural events that foster confidence,
expression, and a strong sense of belonging.
  • Family strengthening and community outreach
Parent School, Women Support Group, home visits, and close collaboration with schools and
municipal services to create a safety net around every child.

Our Impact

Through daily engagement with over 120 children and youth, the Tranzit Center acts as a bridge
between vulnerable communities and the services they often lack access to. Many of the
children who attend the center come from backgrounds where early school dropouts, child
labor, and discrimination are common. Here, they find the tools, support, and encouragement
they need to break that cycle.

The center also plays a crucial role in fostering peaceful coexistence among ethnic groups by
providing a neutral and respectful environment where differences are acknowledged and
embraced. By nurturing empathy, collaboration, and mutual respect from an early age,
CONCORDIA Kosovo contributes to long-term social cohesion in Prizren and beyond.

A Long-Term Commitment

Our work in Tranzit is not a one-time intervention, but a long-term commitment. We believe
that real change takes time, trust, and consistency. That is why CONCORDIA Kosovo is
continuously investing in the center’s development, expanding its reach, and tailoring its
programs to the evolving needs of the community.
With the support of local and international partners, the Tranzit Center continues to grow as a
model of inclusive, community-based child protection and development. It stands as a living
example of what is possible when we work together to give every child the chance to live with
dignity, develop their full potential, and become an active, contributing member of society.
